bwin launches new betting portal for EURO 2008
Friday, 6. June 2008 bwin launches new betting portal for EURO 2008
bwin, the world?s leader in online gaming entertainment, is revamping its sports betting lineup for the EURO 2008. The centrepiece of the new design will be an even more convenient and intuitive live betting interface. In addition, the entire website www.bwin.com has been rebranded, making the layout clearer and the site even more customer-friendly. ?In the past two years, our line-up has been copied repeatedly by competitors. With the new betting portal, we are demonstrating our technological edge yet again,? explains Co-CEO Norbert Teufelberger. The online gaming business currently employs a total of more than 1,300 employees, 700 of which are in different IT departments. 250 bwin employees focus exclusively with software development.
11,000 bets during the EURO 2008 During the EURO, live bets will be available for all games. Together with up to 175 bets per game in the classical betting line-up, this will make almost 11,000 different bets on the EURO games alone. bwin is expecting the EURO to generate a surge of approx. 10% in sports betting revenue for the whole year. Whether or not this will also generate additional gross gaming revenue (betting stakes minus winnings) will depend on the outcomes of the games.
Football WC 2006 generated one million sport bets daily At the Football WC 2006, bwin already impressively demonstrated the strong performance of its technical systems. For the first time ever, one million bets were placed in just one day and more than 500,000 individual bets were made for just one game. After the Football WC 2006, bwin continued to improve its output figures.
Europe?s biggest sports betting line-up bwin customers can already place their bets on 100 live events daily, 24 hours a day and select from up to 150 different bets per event. Popular sports aside from football are basketball and handball. 7.6 million daily page views, almost 560,000 new visitors and more than 5,000 newly registered users each day make bwin one of the strongest online brands the world over. Today, bwin has the most comprehensive and competitive online gaming line-up. The company is Europe?s biggest sports betting provider, offering more than 90 sports (of which more than 40 can also be found in the live betting segment) and including more than 500 soccer leagues in 100 countries.
