AC Milan will be desperate to reduce the existing seven-point gap between themselves and Fiorentina down to four when they play host to fourth from bottom club Carpi at their Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on Thursday night.
A recent five-match sequence without a win in Serie A has now made life extremely difficult for AC Milan if they’re to claw themselves back into Europa League reckoning having suffered defeats to Sassuolo, Atalanta and Juventus along with stalemates against Chievo and Lazio.
However, AC Milan’s home form continues to give them hope despite their recent defeat to Juventus as they had previously put together an impressive six-game unbeaten streak amidst an overall record of 9-4-3 24/16.
Visitors Carpi find themselves dangerously close to the relegation zone and in fact are just one point above Frosinone who are third from bottom in the Italian top flight. But Carpi will head into this evening’s encounter in Milan in confident mood having swept away Genoa in a 4-1 home win on the weekend.
But Carpi’s away results and form have been pretty ordinary to say the least as they’ve managed just one win on their travels from their last nine trips and indeed have registered just two all season on the road within a record of 2-5-9 12/28.
This record becomes even worse when looking at Carpi away from home against top half opposition with stats of 0-3-5 3/11, so I can see only one winner in tonight’s clash.
