AC Milan’s recent impressive five-game unbeaten run in the Italian Serie A came to an abrupt end last weekend when they went down to a 2-1 defeat at league leaders Juventus, but they have a good chance of redeeming themselves at their Stadio Giuseppe Meazza when they take on Genoa this evening.
Despite recent victories over Bologna, Fiorentina, Sassuolo and Chievo, AC Milan still remain outside of the top five in the Italian top flight and sit in 7th place ahead of this weekend’s action. AC Milan have been pretty steady on home turf throughout this campaign to date which is reflected in their overall home record of 9-2-3 22/14 and they’ll go in search of registering a third consecutive home win today following previous wins over Fiorentina and Chievo.
Visitors Genoa sit in a lowly 16th place on the Serie A league ladder but although they’re only two league places above the relegation zone, they hold a commanding 14-point cushion over third from bottom Palermo ahead of their trip to Milan this evening.
Most of Genoa’s limited success this season has been achieved at their Stadio Comunale Luigi Ferraris with 4 of their 7 league wins being recorded on home turf, but an away record of 3-2-9 12/28 has really held them back, despite winning 2-0 at fourth from bottom club Empoli last time out on their travels.
The damage has been done when travelling to the top half teams as Genoa’s poor record of 0-2-5 4/15 shows.
