Stanley good for at least a point when U's visit

League One/Two Tips

Football – England – League Two

Saturday 22nd November 2014 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

Accrington Stanley will be looking to build upon their midweek FA Cup success over League One outfit Notts County when they entertain Cambridge United this Saturday at their Store First Stadium.

Accrington overcame Notts County 2-1 who are a division above Stanley in the FA Cup and they have been rewarded with a home tie against another League One side Yeovil Town who are struggling at the foot of the division. But it’s back to League Two action this weekend, and despite losing away at Carlisle United last time out, John Coleman’s boys will be confident of getting something on home turf this afternoon.

Accrington’s overall home record stands at  5-1-2  13/9 and they’ve won five of their last six including wins against top half opposition such as 5th placed Plymouth Argyle and Morecambe as well as holding current League Two leaders Luton Town to a point.

Cambridge United currently occupy 10th spot in League Two but are only one point ahead of their hosts despite recent wins against Hartlepool United and Northampton Town. Both of these wins though came at their Abbey Stadium while form on the road has been very inconsistent.

The U’s’ away record stands at  2-3-3  10/11 and while they’ve beaten Dagenham & Redbridge and Burton Albion on their travels recently, they’ve also suffered defeats at Wycombe Wanderers and Bury and were held to a point against 19th placed Mansfield Town.

This looks like it may be heading for a low-scoring encounter here, but with Accrington’s win against League One opposition and with home advantage behind them, I’ll back the hosts with the round ball at a good price. Accrington might even take this perhaps 1-0.
