Aldershot v Burton – Pick: Aldershot – 23 April 2011

League One/Two Tips

ALDERSHOT TOWN v BURTON ALBION
 League Two
Saturday 23rd April 2011 –Kickoff 3pm
Aldershot have a very slim chance of still making the play-offs but with 8 points separating them from Gillingham, they must win against lowly Burton Albion in order to keep their faint hopes alive.
The Shots certainly have momentum behind them going into this fixture as they have put together a six match unbeaten run just at the right time which has included wins over play-off placed Torquay United and Shrewsbury Town, whilst dealing with Barnet and Stockport County who reside in the lower half.
Aldershot’s home record stands at 8-7-6 23/22 and their inconsistent start to the season may have costed them a play-off place but with more positive results in recent weeks they may still just sneak in.
The Shots will also be looking to do the double over Burton after they beat them away earlier in the season, and also to avenge last season’s 0-2 reverse to them last season.
Burton Albion are still keeping their heads above water but only just. They are four points above Barnet but their away form is a real concern right now as the season nears the end and are winless in their last seven road trips.
Burton’s away record stands at a woeful 2-6-13 17/37, and possess the worst away record in the whole of League Two so the signs aren’t good for Burton as they travel to Aldershot in search of points to pull them away from the relegation zone.
Since the departure of leading scorer Shaun Harrad (10 goals) they’ve really struggled to put together any sort of winning run and the poor form of Barnet and Stockport County below them is their only saving grace so far.
The Verdict: Kevin Dillon’s Aldershot must win this one to keep their play-off hopes alive and considering Burton’s poor away form at the moment, I’m expecting another home win for The Shots. Aldershot to win 1-0.
