ALDERSHOT v NUNEATON – Pick: 1 – 15 November 2014

Shots to fire against Nuneaton

National League Tips

Football – England – Conference Premier

Saturday 15th November 2014 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

Aldershot Town ended a run of four Conference matches without a win on Wednesday night when they stunned Kidderminster 2-0 at the Aggborough Stadium to claim three vital points for the bottom half side.

The Shots’ cause was aided somewhat by a red card to Kidderminster defender Hodgkiss, but they now have home advantage on Saturday afternoon against second from bottom club nuneaton Town as they bid to pull even further away from the bottom four of the Conference.

Aldershot’s home record stands at a reasonable  4-2-3  13/11 and they’ve delat with the lower half teams well with wins over Altrincham, Lincoln City and Alfreton Town along with a 2-1 home win over second placed Grimsby Town back in August.

Former Reading striker Brett Williams (8 goals) is Aldershot’s main strike threat up front.

Visitors Nuneaton Town’s miserable season took another blow as they were bundled out of the final qualifying round of the FA Cup at the hands of lower league opposition in the shape of Conference South outfit Hemel Hempstead who beat the midlanders in a replay.

Nuneaton find themselves second from bottom in the Conference to improving AFC Telford who are now just two points adrift of them. Nuneaton did register back-to-back wins recently over Lincoln City and Dover Athletic, but like their other successes this season, these were both on home turf.

Away from home, Nuneaton have really struggled to keep pace and they possess the worst away record in the division of  0-1-8  3/18 having lost their last eight matches on their travels on the bounce. To make matters worse, they’re also struggling to find the net on the road and have failed to score on six occasions to date.

Aldershot have dealt effectively with bottom half opposition before and I see no reason why that should change this afternoon against a poor Nuneaton Town side who look totally bereft of confidence – a 2-0 win for the hosts.
