Almeria v Valencia Betting Tip

Almeria and Valencia clash this evening in the last match of the La Liga season with both teams needing all three points for differing reasons at their respective ends of the Spanish top flight.

Firstly, looking at Almeria, and they are currently sitting second from bottom in the division and must take all three points this evening if they’re to stand any chance of avoiding the drop, and they also need other results to go their way too.

Having lost three of their last four matches overall though, the picture looks bleak for Sergi Barjuan’s boys as they not only take on one of the best sides in the division, but Valencia also need all three points to claim the last automatic qualifying berth for the Champions League next season.

Almeria’s home record stands at  3-7-8  18/25 with recent wins over Granada and Eibar handing them a La Liga lifeline, but their record on home turf against top half teams this season is a poor one as they’ve failed to win a single encounter against such opposition in nine matches so far (losing 6 of these).

Visitors Valencia have a straightforward task ahead of them in tonight’s encounter at Almeria – at least it’s straightforward in terms of what they need to do. They need all three points to be in with a chance of a Champions League spot, but also to stave off the competition from Sevilla who are just one league position and one point below them in the division.

While Valencia will be hoping both Atletico Madrid and Sevilla slip up, they need to concentrate on their own performance and lift tonight as they’ve drawn three of their last four and can’t afford to drop any more points here. Having said that, Valencia have lost just once in their last sixteen matches overall, while their away record is a solid  6-8-4  25/20.

Both teams then go into tonight’s clash with the desire for three points, but the difference in quality could be the key here – I’ll therefore go for the visitors Valencia to claim the spoils in what could be a 2-1 win.
