Arsenal kept their hopes of claiming some silverware this season alive with a 2-1 win over Manchester City after extra time in the FA Cup semi-final, but it remains to be seen whether a cup final appearance (whether they win the FA Cup or not), will be enough to save Arsene Wenger’s job with The Gunners.
In the Premier League, Arsenal currently occupy a very disappointing 7th place and this represents Arsenal’s lowest league standing in the English top flight for many seasons as the pressure mounts upon Wenger and his squad. Anything less than a win for Arsenal tonight would see them virtually out of the race to claim even a Europa League spot.
On a positive note, Arsenal beat Middlesbrough 2-1 away from home last time out, and they still possess a strong home record of 10-3-2 31/15 having put together a three-match unbeaten run which includes wins over Hull city and West Ham along with a draw with Manchester City.
Visitors Leicester City now sit in a more comfortable looking 15th place in the Premier League but they’re still not totally out of the woods yet in terms of relegation as they are six points ahead of third from bottom Swansea City with six league matches remaining.
A recent five-match winning streak lifted The Foxes out of immediate relegation danger though, and also earned caretaker manager Craig Shakespeare the job in the King Power Stadium hot-seat, but Leicester have since lost 4-2 away at Everton and drew 2-2 at Crystal Palace.
They hit the road again for Wednesday night’s clash at The Emirates with an extremely poor away record of 1-4-11 15/35 to their name, and even though Arsenal have had an average season so far (by their standards), I can’t see Leicester upsetting the odds here.
