Arsenal head into their Boxing Day clash with West Brom having suffered back-to-back defeats away at Everton and Manchester City (both in 2-1 defeats) as they look to bounce back at The Emirates with all three points this afternoon.
Bear in mind that both of these recent defeats for The Gunners were away from home, while on home turf they’ve registered a pretty solid looking record of 5-2-1 18/10 having won their last two home matches on the bounce with wins gained over Bournemouth and Stoke City.
In addition, six of Arsenal’s eight home matches to date have seen the hosts score 2 goals or more so far this season, and although West Brom sit in a very reasonable 8th place in the English top flight, they could be put to the sword here today.
Onto West Brom then, and as mentioned they currently sit in a creditable 8th position in the Premier League but come into this match having lost 2-0 at home to Manchester United at The Hawthorns last time out.
A four-match unbeaten run which included wins over Leicester City, Burnley and Watford along with a point away at Hull City helped lift The Baggies up into the top half of the division, but defeats to Chelsea and Manchester United have balanced things out.
Incidentally, West Brom hold a poor record away at top half opposition so far this season with a record of 0-1-2 2/4 and even though manager Tony Pulis is expected to ‘park the bus’ here, Arsenal should find a way to win comfortably.
