Football – England – Championship Betting Tips

Aston Villa continued their revival under new manager Steve Bruce last time out as they earned a point at St Andrews in a 1-1 draw with local derby rivals Birmingham City with both teams reasonably happy to walk away without losing the match.

Since Bruce’s appointment, Villa have been unbeaten in four matches in the Championship which includes wins over Reading (away) and Fulham (at home) along with gaining points off midlands clubs Wolves and Birmingham City. In Steve Bruce, they have a manager that has a distinguished pedigree in gaining promotion from the Championship as he has achieved this with Birmingham City and Hull City on two occasions each.

Despite sitting in 15th place, Aston Villa still remain unbeaten at Villa Park as they hold a home record of  2-5-0  10/6 which includes wins over Rotherham United and Fulham.

Visitors Blackburn Rovers find themselves second from bottom in the Championship after making an average start to their new campaign, one that was fulled with promise as Owen Coyle had taken over the reigns at Ewood Park.

However, Rovers have really struggled to put any kind of run together with just one win from their last six Championship matches which was a 2-1 home win over Nottingham Forest, but their away record definitely needs some urgent attention.

Their record on the road reads  1-1-5  5/11 with their one success coming in a 2-1 win at fellow strugglers Derby County, but have since suffered back-to-back defeats at Birmingham City and Bristol City ahead of today’s encounter in the west midlands.

There’s a new feeling of optimism at Villa Park now, and I can see the hosts walking away with the points here.
