Torino good for at least a point in Atalanta

Saturday 4th April 2015 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

Followeing a run of seven matches without a win, this afternoons hosts Atalanta will be looking for a change in fortunes when they host Torino at their Stadio Atleti Azzurri d’Italia.

Atalanta have slumped to four defeats during this seven-match sequence with defeats to Fiorentina, Inter Milan, Juventus and Sampdoria, and whilst they managed to get points off Parma, Udinese and Napoli in three consecutive stalemates, their task doesn’t get much easier this afternoon.

Atalanta’s overall home record stands at  3-5-5  14/20 with just one win from their last six on home turf which was a 2-1 win over third from bottom club Cagliari who have won just twice on their travels all season. But against top half opposition, Atalanta have drawn twice and lost five in their seven matches played to date.

Visitors Torino haven’t exactly been setting the world alight in recent weeks as they’ve registered wins over Napoli and Parma, but have also experienced defeats to Udinese and Lazio along with a point against Fiorentina in a 1-1 draw.

But Torino have shown they are no pushovers when it comes to taking the road in Serie A with just one loss in their last eight away from home which was a 3-2 defeat at Udinese. However, with an overall record of  5-3-6  17/19 and the one defeat from their last nine, they look a good bet for at least a point away at lowly Atalanta this afternoon.

Torino have won four out of five encounters away at bottom third opposition (along with a draw), so they shouldn’t be too fazed buy a trip to Atalanta here.

With the hosts’ poor record overall, I reckon there’s some value to be had by backing the visitors even with the round ball – however, this could end up a 1-0 win for Torino.
