ATLETICO MADRID v MALAGA – Pick: 1 AH-1 – 22 November 2014

Madrid to continue home dominance

International Football Tips

Football – Spain – La Liga

Saturday 22nd November 2014 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

Atletico Madrid will be keen to bounce back from their 1-2 defeat away at Real Sociedad prior to the international break when they host Malaga on Saturday afternoon.

Atletico had previously put together three La Liga wins on the trot with victories over Espanyol, Getafe and Cordoba while their form at the Estadio Vicente Calderon continues to go from strength to strength on the back of an unbeaten run that has now stretched to some 25 matches which is an outstanding record in the top flight of any major league let alone a league that includes the powerhouses of Barcelona and Real Madrid!

Atletico Madrid’s home record for this season stands at an impressive  4-1-0  14/5 and they’ve won their last three on the trot with wins over Sevilla 4-0, Espanyol 2-0 and Cordoba 4-2 (all covering the -1 line too I might add).

Visitors Malaga currently hold a top half position in La Liga as they occupy 6th place in the Spanish top flight, although this is largely thanks to their solid home form where they still remain unbeaten.

Malaga have strung together five league wins on the trot over Granada, Cordoba, Rayo Vallecano, Real Sociedad and Eibar but all of these results (as good as they are), were all against lower half opposition with the exception of Eibar who sit mid-table.

Malaga’s away form may well hold the key for the outcome of today’s match though as it stands at a so-so  2-1-2  5/7 and they’ve already struggled against top half sides away from home with defeats at Valencia 0-3 and Getafe 0-1.

My money’s on Atletico Madrid therefore to return to their solid home form and take the points here as well as covering the -1 asian line to boot; could be a 3-1 win for the hosts.
