ATLETICO PR v CHAPECOENSE

Atletico PR lost a third Serie A match on the trot last weekend when they went down 2-1 at home to Fluminense and the hosts have dropped down to 8th place as a result. However, they return to their home ground for today’s clash with Chapecoense in reasonably confident mood despite the recent defeats as they hold a decent record on home soil.
Atletico PR’s overall home record stands at 5-1-1 12/5 and last week’s defeat was their first of the season. However, earlier wins over the likes of Internacional, Atletico Mineiro and Figueirense suggests they have enough about them to take the points here today.
In addition, Atletico’s defence has kept a total of four clean sheets at the back which should also hold them in good stead here against visitors Chapecoense.
Onto Chapecoense then, and they lost another away match at Avai in a 2-1 loss which has stalled their progress up the Serie A division. While Chapecoense’s home form has been pretty steady all season, their results on the road have been far less convincing as they currently hold an away record of 1-0-5 3/9.
Chapecoense have lost their last two away matches on the trot with losses at Palmeiras and Avai along with earlier defeats to Corinthians, Ponte Preta and Flamengo. Even though they’ve registered a rare win at Cruzeiro, they could well struggle against Atletico PR today given the hosts’ positive record on home turf.
In short, I’ll back the hosts Atletico PR to take the points but again, give the quarter ball for a little insurance, but it could be a narrow 1-0 win.
