Atletico PR can add a further valuable three points to their Copa Libertadores ambitions on Sunday afternoon when they take on bottom half club Vitoria at their Estádio Joaquim Américo Guimarães in Parana.
With just one defeat from their last six matches overall, which was a 1-0 loss away at Coritiba, Atletico PR look likely to add to their points tally today as they’ve won three of their last four with wins over Gremio, America Mineiro and Monday’s away win at Cruzeiro.
On home turf, Atletico PR have racked up five wins on the bounce amidst an overall record of 5-1-0 8/2 as they’re still yet to taste defeat in front of their home fans, whilst also collecting four clean sheets on the trot.
Visitors Vitoria bring a five-match unbeaten run into this afternoon’s encounter having registered wins over Gremio and Sport Recife along with points gained against Ponte Preta, Cruzeiro and Fluminense in stalemates, so they’ll be reasonably confident of getting something here today.
However, Vitoria have gained just one win on their travels so far in this Serie A season which was an unexpected win at third placed Gremio, so it’ll be interesting to see if lightning strikes twice at Atletico PR today!
An away record of 1-3-3 7/12 suggests that the visitors’ best hopes here would be to get a point against an in-form home side who have been very miserly at the back.
I’m backing the hosts to secure the points here though as their defence could be the difference.
