AUSTRIA VIENNA v SALZBURG

Thursday 25th May 2017 – Kickoff: 1530hrs

Football – Austria – Bundesliga Betting Tips

To finish up my Austrian Bundesliga previews, there’s a top of the table clash between hosts Austria Vienna and visitors Salzburg when the two teams meet at the Happel stadium in Vienna with the home side looking to bounce back from a disappointing 2-1 defeat away at struggling Wolfsberger on the weekend.

Prior to that unexpected loss, Austria vienna had put together a useful five-match unbeaten sequence which included four wins over Mattersburg (away), local rivals Rapid Vienna (away), Sturm Graz (home) and Ried (home).

Mixed results at home in the second half of the season cost them the title race against Salzburg and they’re now 15 points adrift of the league leaders. Vienna’s home record stands at  10-1-6  34/22 and they’ve won their last two home matches on the trot. Attacking options include midfielders Tajouri (7 goals), Venuto (7 goals, he is injured), Grunwald (9 goals) and Holzhauser (7 goals), along with forward Kayode (16 goals).

Red Bull Salzburg have once again dominated the Austrian domestic scene this season as they sit top of the Bundesliga with a 15 point lead over second placed Austria Vienna, and they too come into this encounter following recent back-to-back wins.

Victories over Rapid Vienna and Admira helped confirm their title once again, and they also possess a strong record away from home in the Austrian top flight with a record of  10-4-3  37/14 despite losing last time out at Mattersburg.

Salzburg had previously put together an eight-match unbeaten run before that defeat, and they’re also the league’s highest goalscorers away from home with a total of 37 goals. Firepower has been supplied by the likes of midfielders Lainer (6 goals) and Berisha (7 goals) along with the strike pair of Hwang and Minamino (11 goals apiece) so far this term.

Both teams are very capable of scoring goals, so I’ll back both teams do so this afternoon.
