Barcelona once again face a mountain to climb if they’re to stay in this year’s Champions League as they face a three-goal deficit to Italian side Juventus when the two teams resume hostilities at the Nou Camp on Wednesday night.
Barcelona famously overcame a four-goal deficit in the previous round against French champions PSG when they trounced them 5-0 in the second leg to take the tie 5-4 on aggregate, but it should be pointed out that a few refereeing decisions were questionable to say the least. Nevertheless, they’ve proved they can triumph in the face of adversity, they are very capable of repeating the act again here this evening.
Taking this game on face value alone, the odds are pretty generous on a Barcelona win tonight in my humble opinion, and we could be in for another blockbuster here!
Visitors Juventus definitely hold the upper hand over the Spanish giants following their emphatic 3-0 win at their Juventus Stadium in Torino last week, but they’re likely to need every ounce of their defensive rearguard action in this evening’s second leg I fancy against the expected barrage of attacks from Barcelona.
Juventus have done everything that’s been asked of them so far in this year’s Champions League though as they topped their group after being unbeaten throughout this phase, which included away wins at Dynamo Zagreb, Lyon and Sevilla.
In the round of 16, Juventus again scored a valuable 2-0 win on the road at Portuguese outfit Porto, before finishing them off 1-0 at home in the second leg.
But let’s forget what happened in the first leg of this tie and back Barcelona for the straight win here tonight – who knows what this could lead to?!
