Last week saw one of the most surprising scorelines in the history of the Champions League when Paris Saint Germain thrashed Barcelona 4-0 at home in the first leg of the round of last 16, and despite having to travel to the Camp Nou for this second leg, the French outfit must fancy their chances of progressing through to the quarter-finals.
Never in the history of the Champions League has a team overcome a 4-goal deficit before, but if any team can achieve this, then it’s Barcelona who will be going all out to erase last week’s humiliating defeat.
A forward line consisting of Messi, Suarez and Neymar are more than capable of making life extremely difficult for PSG, and this could be a hell of a game! Incidentally, Barcelona have won their last 14 Champions League matches at home on the trot and have kept eight clean sheets during this sequence…
Visitors PSG will probably never have a better opportunity to get one over Barcelona in the Champions League than this two-legged encounter, and they now just have to avoid defeat by more than three goals to once again make an appearance in the quarter-finals.
However, there’s no doubt that the French outfit will come under a constant barrage of attack from their Spanish counterparts here, and they’ll need to play as normal a game as possible as the alternative of setting up shop to defend would be a most dangerous tactic to employ.
PSG may also have in the backs of their minds that they’ve lost their last two meetings away from home at Barcelona, and while Barcelona may not get the required five-goal win here, I’m confident they’ll at least win this second leg at reasonable odds on offer.
