BARNET v CHESTER – Pick: 1 – 20 December 2014

Bees look for third win on trot

National League Tips

Football – England – League Two

Saturday 20th December 2014 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

Barnet will be going in search of a third successive win in the Conference Premier when they take on Chester at the Hive Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Barnet have recently registered back-to-back wins against Macclesfield Town and Torquay United which has maintained their position at the top of the non-league elite and they hold a useful seven point cushion over second placed Macclesfield as a result.

The Bees have lost just twice in their last ten league matches and they hold an overall home record of  8-1-3  29/12. Within this record, Barnet have scored 2 goals or more at home on nine occasions and it’s no surprise that they are the league’s highest goalscorers in the division on home turf.

The leading goalscorer is John Akinde (16 goals) and he’s scored 7 goals in the last 7 league matches.

Visitors Chester currently sit just below mid-table and they too have racked up a few useful wins lately with victories over Gateshead 1-0 at home, 4-2 at Dartford and 2-0 at home over AFC Telford.

However, on the road, Chester’s away record is almost the exact opposite of Barnet’s home one as their stats are  3-1-8  18/25 with just one win on their travels from their last five trips as they’ve suffered defeats at Dover, Eastleigh, Macclesfield and Nuneaton.

It’s also worth noting that Chester have conceded in each of their away matches to date, and have conceded 2 goals or more on nine occasions.

This last statistic could be a telling one and I’ll therefore back the hosts for the points here in what could perhaps be a 2-1 win for The Bees.
