BARNET v FLEETWOOD – Pick: 1 AH+0.25 – 19 January 2013

In-form Barnet could edge faltering Fleetwood at Underhill

League One/Two Tips

Football – England – League Two

Saturday 19th January 2013 – Kickoff:  1500hrs

Similarly to Yeovil Town in League One, Barnet have emerged as one of the form sides in League Two recently and they’ll be looking for further success when they entertain eighth placed Fleetwood Town at Underhill on Saturday.

This may at first appear to be a rather flippant remark but when you take into consideration their recent wins over the likes of sixth placed Burton Albion 3-2, a 1-0 away win at second placed  Gillingham, 2-0 over ninth placed Bradford City and a 2-0 away win at Rotherham United last weekend, then you’ll understand my reasons for optimism here.

Barnet’s good run at home took a slight dent recently when they lost rather surprisingly to Aldershot Town but they quickly corrected this with the win over Bradford. Just the one defeat in their last eight at home then has helped pull them away from the relegation zone for now but they’ll be mindful that they will need to continue picking up points particularly in their home matches. The Bees’ home record stands at  4-5-5  19/20 which isn’t bad when you consider they went their first six matches at home without a win.

Currently occupying one place below a play-off spot, visitors Fleetwood Town have wobbled in the last couple of matches with back-to-back defeats against Northampton Town and a devastating loss to Bristol Rovers at home last weekend which has derailed their play-off ambitions slightly and other teams have taken advantage.

Nevertheless, it’s been a great start to league football for The Red Devils and a play-off berth is not out of the question by any means. However, just one away win in their last six on the road will need improvement if they are to reach the play-offs I feel, and they face a tough task of picking up points at Underhill this weekend.

Fleetwood’s away record stands at  5-5-3  18/12 and they remain a dangerous commodity as they can beat the likes of Port Vale away from home and score goals to boot too.

Barnet have home advantage here though, and I feel they possess just a little more consistency and will have heaps of confidence behind them given the recent scalps they’ve claimed in the last few matches. I’ll go for a 1-0 home win for Barnet but take the quarter ball handicap generously offered by our friends at Dafabet to help you out.
