Birmingham City will be looking to pick up where they left off before the international break this afternoon on the back of their emphatic 5-2 win away at Craven Cottage against Fulham.
Birmingham had previously been held to a draw and suffered two defeats with a 0-0 stalemate against Blackburn Rovers which followed back-to-back defeats to Hull City and west midlands rivals Wolves, but The Blues have a great chance of chalking up another home win at St Andrews this afternoon against a lacklustre Charlton Athletic outfit.
Birmingham’s home form has been surprisingly below-par so far this season as their record of 3-2-3 9/10 shows, with most of their successes coming on the road – a situation that manager Gary Rowett will be keen to improve today.
Charlton Athletic currently sit third from bottom in the Championship as they still search for their first away win of the season, but they did manage all three points at The Valley just before the break with a surprising 3-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday.
However, The Addicks had previously lost five league matches on the trot and it remains to be seen whether the recent win over The Owls will be enough for them to build on this afternoon in the nations second capital.
Charlton have lost their last six away matches on their travels, so it appears that they’ll be up against it once again this afternoon as they bring a poor away record of 0-2-6 3/13 into today’s game, along with failing to score in five matches on the road to date.
I’ll therefore side with the hosts here who should register a much-needed home win for their fans.
