Bolton v Huddersfield Betting Tip 1 – 29 November 2014

Championship Tips

Since Neil Lennon took over from Dougie Freedman in October, Bolton have improved immensely, winning four and losing only two of his first seven games in charge. One of his biggest challenges was turning Macron Stadium into a ground which was far more daunting than it had been before taking charge. They managed only three home wins in 12 before Lennon came in but he’s went about changing that straightaway and won his first three home games in charge, scoring three goals in each of those wins.

Huddersfield are another side who are on their second manager of the season following the sacking of Mark Robins. Chris Powell has had a positive influence since taking over but the wheels have came off a bit of late as his side have managed one victory in their last six. Their most recent game was the Yorkshire derby at home to Sheffield Wednesday and it was one that could have went either way. Frustratingly for Powell and his players, they missed a host of chances but they were lucky to keep a clean sheet at the same time.

One player who has been particularly rejuvenated since the new manager came in is Chung-Yong Lee. He was a star player for Owen Coyle when Bolton were in the Premier League but he has lost his way through a combination of a loss of form and injury. That looks like a thing of the past now, though, as he has been excellent in the last six weeks. He’s scored three goals in his last six – all under Lennon – and has played a significant role in setting up several others, too.

Powell opted to play one upfront last week to get an extra body in midfield but they looked at their most threatening when Nahki Wells came on and partnered Grant Holt. I would anticipate those two being paired together from the start on Saturday and they will be a threat for a Bolton defence – which although improving – has kept just two clean sheets in their last 13 league games.

The impact Lennon has had on Bolton is there for all to see and although they managed just a point away to Blackpool last week, it’s their form at home which has seen the biggest upturn. Huddersfield have been more impressive at home than they have on their travels but the home defence can be got at. I think there will be goals in this encounter and whilst I wouldn’t put anyone off backing Bolton and both teams to score at a tempting 16/5, I’m going to take the home win instead.
