BORDEAUX v CAEN – Pick: 1 – 19 October 2014

Bordeaux to bounce back when Caen visit

International Football Tips

Football – France – Ligue 1

Sunday 19th October 2014 – Kickoff: 1700hrs

Bordeaux will be keen to return to their familiar surroundings of their home ground on Sunday afternoon when they host lowly Caen after the international break.

The hosts suffered a 0-1 loss away at Reims just before the break but all three points today could lift them above PSG into second place if other results go their way – and of course if they manage to beat the visiting Caen as well.

Bordeaux’s home form has been pretty good though as they possess an overall record on home turf of  3-1-0  9/4 having already disposed of Monaco 4-1, Evian TG 2-1 and Rennes 2-1 all of whom reside in the bottom half of Ligue 1 and with Caen also fourth from bottom in the division, i daresay Bordeaux will fancy their chances of returning to winning ways here this evening.

Onto Caen now, and as mentioned, the visitors currently sit fourth from bottom just two points ahead of bottom club Guingamp, and with a tough trip to Bordeaux ahead of them today, it looks like they won’t be climbing away from the bottom three until perhaps next week.

Despite winning two away matches already, Caen still occupy a position near the bottom of the league thanks largely to a run of six matches without a win including defeats to Rennes, Saint-Etienne, PSG and Marseille.

On the road, Caen’s overall record stands at  2-2-1  8/4 which is pretty good but their wins have been away at fellow bottom half clubs Evian TG and Reims.

To sum up, Bordeaux will be keen to get back after the break with a win while Caen face a stiff task of getting anything off the hosts who sit in third place – I’m confident of a home win here, perhaps 2-1.
