BORDEAUX v LYON – Pick: 1 AH0 – 21 December 2014

Bordeaux to hold steady against Lyon

International Football Tips

Football – France – Ligue 1

Sunday 21st December 2014 – Kickoff: 2000hrs

Bordeaux will once again look to return to winning ways when they return to their home ground to take on third placed Lyon on Sunday evening.

After an unbeaten run of three matches in Ligue 1 which included wins over Lille and Lorient along with a draw against Metz 0-0 away, Bordeaux went down 2-1 away at Nantes who have now moved within four points of Bordeaux as a result.

The hosts today then will be keen to grab the three points today and they could leapfrog St Etienne into fourth position if results go their way. Bordeaux hold an impressive home record of  6-2-0  16/8 so far this season and in fact are unbeaten on home turf in their last twelve league matches, a record that extends back into the latter stages of last season.

Forwards Diabate and Rolan look the likeliest goalscorers for the hosts here.

Lyon currently sit in third place in the French top flight but this is thanks largely to their amazing home record where they’ve won nine of their ten matches to date. Lyon have won their last three overall on the trot with wins against Reims, Evian TG and Caen although two of those three wins were against sides in the bottom four of the division.

Away from home though has been a different story as Lyon have struggled for any sort of consistency with a record of  2-3-3  10/12 and mixed results have obviously ensued with a defeat at St Etienne, wins at Nice and Evian and draws at Nantes and Bastia.

Lyon forward Lacazette is their obvious danger-man up front and he notched a couple of goals in their last match.

If Bordeaux can keep Lacazette quiet then they’ll go a long way to getting something out of this evening’s match – I’ll back the hosts to avoid defeat but I recommend taking the round ball as this might end up a draw. Could be 1-1 or a narrow 1-0 win for Bordeaux.
