Bournemouth secured a valuable three points on New Years Eve when they beat Swansea City 3-0 away at the Liberty Stadium which condemned the Welsh outfit to bottom place in the Premier League, while also maintaining Bournemouth’s comfortable mid-table position in the English top flight.
However, three defeats from their last five matches overall means that Eddie Howe’s side need to up their focus with the visit from Arsenal on Tuesday night as The Cherries have fallen to losses against Burnley, south coast rivals Southampton and league leaders Chelsea in recent times.
Bournemouth hold a reasonable home record of 5-1-3 16/12 as they’ve managed to hold their own (and usually beat) the teams around or below them in the league, but losses to Sunderland and Southampton still show a chink in their armour.
Visitors Arsenal sit in fourth place in the Premier League but have a game in hand over the teams above them, so The Gunners will no doubt be keen to press for a win here this evening which would lift them up into third spot just one point behind Liverpool.
Arsenal head into this encounter following back-to-back wins over West Brom and Crystal Palace at home respectively, but they’ve lost their last two away matches on the trot at Everton and Manchester City, so it’ll be interesting to see how they fare at Bournemouth tonight.
The Gunners also hold a pretty steady away record though which stands at 5-2-2 20/9 with only London rivals Chelsea possessing a better defensive record away from home than them in the Premier League to date.
