Bradford City registered a solid 3-1 win away at Crawley Town on Tuesday night which extended their unbeaten run to seven matches (including a couple of friendlies) for this season.
Bradford started their campaign with a 3-2 home win over Coventry City and then followed that up with a good win in the first round of the Capital One Cup away at in-form League Two side Morecambe at the Globe Arena to set up an interesting second round tie against west Yorkshire rivals Leeds United.
Back to League One though, and The Bantams earned a point at Walsall in a 0-0 draw last Saturday before Tuesday night’s win at Crawley. Bradford currently sit second to league leaders Fleetwood Town, but today’s visitors can blow either hot or cold and are very inconsistent. Striker James Hanson has hit 3 goals in 3 matches already.
Onto Peterborough United then, and Darren Ferguson must be wondering which ‘Posh’ side will take the field in any given match – an opening day win at Rochdale 1-0 was a good result but they then lost at League Two outfit Portsmouth in the first round of the League Cup.
They then outscore MK Dons in an entertaining 3-2 win at London Road but then again fall foul in their midweek home defeat to Sheffield United who had struggled in their first couple of matches of the new season.
Peterborough can’t be trusted on the road though as their away record last season of 9-2-12 38/37 shows – and despite finishing in a play-off spot, they lost the most away games out of all the teams in the top six by some margin, which once again underlines their inconsistent nature.
To sum up, Bradford have been in solid form for quite a while now, and with home advantage and the brittle away form of Peterborough, I’ll back The Bantams with the generously priced round ball this afternoon. If the match ends a draw, we get our stake refunded, but Bradford might just sneak this one 2-1.
