BRAINTREE v WELLING – Pick: 1 – 25 November 2014

Iron seek third win when Wings visit

National League Tips

Football – England – Conference Premier

Tuesday 25th November 2014 – Kickoff: 1945hrs

Braintree Town continued their recent revival at the weekend when they secured all three points away at AFC Telford United in a welcome 3-1 win to hand Alan Devonshire’s men back-to-back Conference victories.

Braintree manager Alan Devonshire had recently stated in the press that he thought The Iron fans needed a bit of a ‘reality check’ as they’d been disgruntled with recent results. Braintree had previously been subject to a miserable run of ten league matches without a win, but Devonshire’s side have responded well of late with wins over Wrexham and Telford.

The Iron’s home record at their Amlin Stadium isn’t too bad as it reads  5-3-3  12/7 but with just one win from their last five, they’ll certainly be wanting to take advantage of Welling’s poor away record here tonight as they seek a third league win on the trot.

Visitors Welling United continued their solid home form on Saturday when they beat Halifax Town 2-1 but The Shaymen aren’t known for their exploits on the road, and The Wings have lost at Park View Road just once this season.

But away from home it’s been a very different story for Welling United as they’ve registered just one win on their travels so far this season which was a 4-0 win at fellow strugglers Altrincham, but they’ve received scant reward on the road otherwise as they’ve suffered eight defeats in their ten away matches to date.

Welling have also lost their last three on the bounce away from home with losses at Kidderminster, Southport and Dartford, and the worrying factor for Welling is that two of these three recent defeats were against other struggling teams near the foot of the division while their overall away record stands at a woeful 1-1-8  9/19.

Braintree have revived of late and go into today’s match looking for a third win on the trot  while Welling have been poor on their travels – I’ll back the hosts for the three points here in what could be a 2-1 win for The Iron.
