BRENTFORD v CRAWLEY – Pick: 1 – 08 April 2014

Bees buzzing at Griffin Park

League One/Two Tips

Football – England – League One

Tuesday 8th April 2014 – Kickoff:  1945hrs

A quick dip into League One now and another visit to Griffin Park where second placed Brentford will be looking to register back-to-back home wins when they entertain Crawley Town on Tuesday night.

Brentford chalked up an impressive 3-1 win over Notts County on Saturday to stay six points clear of third placed Rotherham United who incidentally won at Gillingham 4-3, and with Rotherham once again on the road tonight this time at rival Yorkshire outfit Sheffield United at Bramall Lane, Brentford will look upon tonight’s encounter with Crawley Town as a perfect opportunity to extend their lead over The Millermen.

Brentford’s overall League One form has been pretty solid all round with just one loss in their last nine matches which was ironically away at Rotherham United 0-3 but aside from that loss, The Bees have racked up wins over Bradford City, Leyton Orient and Coventry City with an overall home record of  16-1-3  40/17.

Brentford also possess some very effective attacking firepower in the shape of strikers Donaldson (16 goals) and Trotta (12 goals) along with attacking midfielders Forshaw (8 goals) and Judge (5 goals), the former also being their penalty taker.

Crawley Town suffered a disappointing 1-2 defeat at home to Crewe Alexandra on the weekend which handed the Red Devils a fifth straight league defeat which has left the West Sussex outfit just three points clear of the relegation pack.

With three games in hand over most of the teams around them in the bottom half of the division, survival is well and truly in their hands but five straight losses does nothing for confidence, and with a trip to Brentford who are pushing all out for promotion up to the Championship, it could be a long evening for manager John Gregory and his boys.

Crawley’s away record stands at  3-8-8  21/27 and they’ve gone without an away win for six matches which includes defeats at Gillingham, Oldham Athletic, Preston North End and Port Vale as they’ve lost four of these six.

Brentford are almost within touching distance of automatic promotion and with a good home win under their belts from Saturday, I’ll back them to get the points again here tonight. Could be a 2-1 win for Brentford.

Pick:  Brentford straight win @ 1.62 Bet Victor
