Another side that are causing more than just a few eyebrows to be raised in the Championship are Brentford as the fifth placed team search for back-to-back wins in the English second tier when they entertain struggling Wigan Athletic at Griffin Park.
Brentford registered a resounding 4-1 win over Reading at home during the week which has lifted The Bees up into early play-off reckoning and they fully deserve their early success on the back of decent results in recent weeks as they beat Brighton 2-0 away from home, earned a point away at Aston Villa in a 1-1 draw and then proceeded to thrash Preston North End 5-0 after that!
Brentford have also turned in some good performances on home turf amidst their overall impressive record of 4-1-0 13/2, not least with wins over Ipswich Town and Nottingham Forest, whilst keeping three clean sheets to date as well. Look out for Hogan and Vibe up front today.
Visitors Wigan Athletic registered a much-needed home win during the week when they beat Wolves 2-1 which lifted The Latics out of the bottom three for the time being, but all of Wigan’s moderate success so far this season has come at their DW Stadium.
Wigan hold a decent home record of 2-2-1 6/3 so far, but it’s been their performances away from home that have done the damage for Wigan’s hopes this campaign to date as they’ve lost all five of their outings amidst a woeful away record of 0-0-5 6/11.
Defeats at Bristol City, Nottingham Forest, Sheffield Wednesday, Norwich City and Preston North End show they’re a long way from challenging for promotion this season, and indeed could be fighting a long relegation battle instead this term.
