Brighton sit just outside the play-off positions in the Championship but they can break into the top six if they take all three points at home against Barnsley at their AMEX Stadium following back-to-back wins over Huddersfield Town and Burton Albion in recent weeks.
The Seagulls have suffered just one defeat on home turf so far in their new Championship campaign which was a surprising 2-0 defeat to Brentford, but Chris Hughton’s boys are expected to be once again in the play-off mix come May next year.
Brighton also possess some dangerous attacking personnel in the shape of Murray and Hemed up front along with former Leicester City creative midfielder Knockaert who has notched 4 goals so far in the Championship and looks a good acquisition from The Foxes.
Visitors Barnsley currently occupy a lofty fourth position in the Championship but you never quite know what you’re going to get from The Tykes as they’ve won five and lost three matches from their eight matches played to date this season.
Three of Barnsley’s wins have been registered at Oakwell, while away from home they have managed all three points with victories at Preston North End and Wolves, but Brighton should put up more of a fight than the two aforementioned clubs with all due respect.
Barnsley’s away record reads an inconsistent looking 2-0-2 9/7 and they have also suffered losses at Ipswich Town and Huddersfield Town who both occupy top half positions in the Championship.
But I think the fact that Barnsley have managed just one clean sheet from their last 16 played at this level hands the home side the advantage and I’ll back Brighton for the win here.
