BRIGHTON v BLACKBURN ROVERS

Saturday 1st April 2017 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

Football – England – Championship Betting Tips

Brighton and manager Chris Hughton will be desperate to make home advantage count at their AMEX Stadium on Saturday afternoon when they play host to relegation candidates Blackburn Rovers as the hosts look to keep their automatic promotion charge on track.

The Seagulls have faltered a little in recent matches as they’ve suffered three defeats from their last five Championship matches with losses to Newcastle United, Nottingham Forest and Leeds United – although it should be noted that the latter two defeats were away from home.

But Brighton’s form at the AMEX Stadium has been very impressive throughout this campaign and they duly hold a record of  14-3-2  40/11 under their belts with just one defeat from their last 16 on home turf. Brighton are unbeaten in their last three home matches against Blackburn.

Onto Blackburn Rovers then, and since the arrival of manager Tony Mowbray, Rovers have embarked upon a run of seven matches without defeat in the Championship, having registered wins over Derby County and Wigan Athletic, both at Ewood Park.

Although they’ve also avoided defeat in five recent draws too, this hasn’t been enough to pull them out of the bottom three, but they’re just one point adrift of Burton Albion in 21st place on the league ladder.

Mowbray’s appointment was probably due to the fact that he steered Coventry City to League One safety at the end of last season, but the Championship is a different situation altogether and I do wonder if Mowbray will be able to get the best out of a Blackburn side that have lost the firepower of Jordan Rhodes up front.
