Brighton could edge Brentford in the defensive department

Football – England – Championship Betting Tips

Brighton recently ended a run of three consecutive defeats in the Championship by posting back-to-back wins over Blackburn Rovers and Huddersfield Town respectively which has consolidated their current play-off position.

However, a win tonight at the AMEX Stadium would see Brighton jump into third spot at the expense of Burnley who won’t be playing until Saturday when they come up against top of the table Hull City.

Brighton hold a pretty solid home record of  9-2-3  17/13 at the AMEX despite three recent defeats on the-trot to Middlesbrough, Ipswich Town and Wolves, but The Seagulls managed to bounce back with a 2-1 win over Huddersfield Town last time out on home turf. Striker Bobby Zamora (7 goals) has returned to his old club and is currently Brighton’s leading goalscorer.

Visitors Brentford were held to a 1-1 draw at Griffin Park by Leeds United last time out in the Championship which means that The Bees have managed just one league win from their last five matches which was a 3-1 win away at Preston North End.

Brentford have posted mixed results on the road with wins at Reading and Preston while also suffering defeats at Cardiff City and Birmingham City, and they’re likely to face a stiff test away on the south coast on Friday night too.

Brentford’s away record stands at an inconsistent  5-4-5  23/20 as a result, and they’ve kept just two clean sheets away from home all season.

Brighton possess a superior defensive backline though, and I’ll give the quarter-ball on the hosts who could nick this perhaps 1-0.
