BRIGHTON v DERBY COUNTY

Friday 10th March 2017 – Kickoff: 1945hrs

Football – England – Championship Betting Tips

With just one game being played on Friday night in the Championship, tonight’s hosts Brighton can move level on points (albeit perhaps temporarily), if the take all three points against Derby County at their AMEX Stadium.

Brighton bounced back from recent back-to-back defeats to Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest in midweek with a 2-0 win away at relegation candidates Rotherham United to remain in second place and they now hold a useful six-point cushion over third placed Huddersfield Town.

The Seagulls’ home record also stands at an impressive  13-3-2  37/11 and although they lost last time out on home turf to Newcastle United, the hosts are the joint top scorers at home in the division. Attacking trio Baldock, Murray and Hemed will look to exploit a weakened Derby defence here.

Visitors Derby County had to endure another frustrating night at their iPro Stadium during the week when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Preston North End which means that The Rams have gained just one Championship win from their last eight matches overall.

Derby now occupy 10th place in the English second tier as their hopes of at least attaining a play-off spot seem to have all but evaporated amidst a poor run of form. In addition, five defeats from their last six away matches indicates the problems Derby have had on the road in recent times amidst an overall disappointing away record of  6-3-8  15/17.

Derby have also found it difficult to score goals on their travels this season and they’ve failed to hit the back of the net on eight occasions already. A depleted defence could also hamper the visitors tonight as Shackell is missing and midfielder Baird may well have to deputise in the back four again.
