Boro to bag the points this afternoon

Championship Tips

BRISTOL CITY v MIDDLESBROUGH

Saturday 16th January 2016 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

Football – England – Championship Betting Tips

Despite last Saturday’s encouraging 2-2 draw away against Premier League club West Brom in the third round of the FA Cup, there’s been little to cheer about if you’re a Bristol City fan in recent weeks.

In the Championship, The Robins have lost their last three matches on the trot with defeats suffered against Burnley, Reading and Preston North End as they currently sit third from bottom in the division with a poor home record of  2-5-6  14/22 and six matches without a win overall.

At Ashton Gate, Bristol City are without a win from their last five having lost to Blackburn Rovers and Preston North End along with draws against Hull City, QPR and Charlton Athletic while their record at home against top half opposition stands at a poor  1-1-3  6/9.

Visitors Middlesbrough were dumped out of the third round of the FA Cup by fellow Championship outfit Burnley in a 2-1 loss at the Riverside Stadium, but it was back to business on Tuesday night as Boro registered another three points in a 1-0 win away at Brentford.

Five Championship wins on the trot have lifted Middlesbrough to the top of the second tier as they currently enjoy a five-point lead over second placed Hull City heading into this weekend’s round of fixtures.

In addition, Middlesbrough possess a good away record of  7-2-3  17/10 and have won their last four away matches on the bounce with wins at Huddersfield Town, Ipswich Town, Brighton and Brentford, scoring 8 goals for and achieving four shut-outs on the trot.

I’ll therefore back Boro to bag the points here this afternoon.
