Sixth placed Bristol City will go in search of a third consecutive Championship win on Saturday afternoon when they play host to disappointing Nottingham Forest at Ashton Gate, knowing a win here today could lift them up into the early automatic promotion spots.
Bristol City have recently registered back-to-back wins against Fulham in a 4-0 romp away at Craven Cottage which was followed up with a more circumspect but nevertheless effective 1-0 home win over Leeds United in midweek.
The Robins have suffered just one defeat on home turf so far this season which was a 1-0 loss to promotion favourites Newcastle United, but wins over Wigan Athletic, Aston Villa and Leeds United along with a draw against Derby County have made a few people sit up and start taking notice of the west country club.
Visitors Nottingham Forest currently occupy a bottom half position in the Championship thanks to a run of five league matches now without a win following defeats to Norwich City and Sheffield Wednesday along with only managing draws against Aston Villa, Rotherham United and Fulham.
And whilst they retain a reasonable home record at their City Ground so far in this new campaign, their results away from home have been less convincing as their record of 0-2-3 5/10 indicate, having lost at Brighton, Brentford and Sheffield Wednesday.
The Tricky Trees are therefore under no illusions and are no guarantees to pick up points against Bristol City this afternoon, particularly when you consider that they’ve conceded 2 goals or more on four occasions already from their five away outings to date.
