Brondby host Silkeborg at their Brondby Stadion on Monday night which opens their season on home turf and they’ll be looking for a reaction to their opening day defeat last Sunday.
Brondby lost the first match of the new Superligaen season last week away at Midtjylland 3-1 but they now have home advantage tonight against Silkeborg. Brondby had an active pre-season where they recorded away wins at Kolding 1-0 and Slovan Liberec 2-0, but their most notable results came in a 1-1 draw with Bolton Wanderers and then beat mighty Liverpool 2-1 at home just before the new season commenced.
Brondby finished last season in fourth place with an overall home record of 7-6-3 27/19 and they’ll be looking to the likes of forwards Makienok and midfielder Hasani for the bulk of the goals while former Bolton forward Elmander should also figure prominently.
Visitors Silkeborg pipped second placed Hobro to promotion up to the Superligean from the Nordic Bet Ligaen at the end of last season by a slender one point margin. They now face an interesting season in the Danish top flight but have a tough trip ahead of them here tonight.
Despite losing just three times on the road last season, their away form in the top division will be under scrutiny this term and they may well have to ely on their home form to keep them away from the wrong end of the table.
In the last meeting between these two sides, Silkeborg held Brondby to a 2-2 draw, but the previous four matches all ended in wins for tonight’s hosts Brondby. I’ll back them to register their first win of the season here tonight in their opening home fixture with perhaps a 2-1 win.
