Fourth placed Brondby find themselves in a ‘must win’ situation tonight if they’re to stand any chance of claiming a Europa League spot as they’re four ponts adrift of third placed Mitjylland going into tonight’s encounter with Viborg.
Brondby have won five of their last seven Danish Superliga matches and they possess a pretty solid home record which stands at 8-4-3 13/10 which includes an unbeaten run of six matches prior to tonight’s clash with Viborg.
The hosts have won five of these last six matches with victories over Hobro, Randers, OB, AGF and Nordsjaelland, with attacking trio Elmander (5 goals), Pukki (9 goals) and Wilczek (4 goals) providing the goalpower up front for the hosts.
Visitors Viborg have avoided relegation from the Superliga but only courtesy of a poor Hobro side who remain on the bottom of the league despite recent back-to-back wins. That said, Viborg are in a poor run of form right now as they’ve lost their last three league matches on the trot with defeats to AaB, SonderjyskE and Randers.
Viborg do have a pretty good away record of 5-2-8 19/22 considering they’re currently situated third from bottom in the Danish top flight, but you do have to question their motivation for tonight’s clash on the back of three recent defeats on the bounce.
Incidentally, Brondby have won the last four encounters between these two sides on the trot, and even more impressive is that they were all away wins in Viborg!
