Burnley earned a good point away from home last weekend when they held Derby County to a 1-1 draw at the iPro Stadium which has placed The Clarets in third spot in the Championship with a visit from Reading pending.
Burnley are now unbeaten in their last five of which they’ve won four of these with wins over Brentford, Bristol City, Sheffield Wednesday and MK Dons, as today’s hosts have made the most of this relatively easy run of matches. They’ll now be looking to carry this momentum into this afternoon’s clash with Reading.
Burnley’s home form at Turf Moor has been impressive with three wins and a draw amidst an overall record of 3-1-0 8/4 and they seem to be getting the benefit of sticking by manager Sean Dyche despite the disappointment of relegation from the Premier League last season.
Visitors Reading bounced back from their previous defeat to Derby County in the Championship last weekend when they managed a 2-0 win away at hapless Bristol City which handed The Royals a third win from their last four matches.
Previous victories over Brentford and Ipswich Town have lifted The Royals up into early play-off reckoning, but it’ll be interesting to see if they can keep their momentum going particularly away from home where they’ve traditionally struggled in the Championship.
Reading’s early away record has improved to 2-1-1 7/4 but they face a tough Burnley outfit at Turf Moor today so they’ll have their work cut out to get anything here this afternoon.
Both sides have taken advantage of the slightly ‘weaker’ opposition in recent weeks, but I feel Burnley have the necessary weapons to edge the points in a possible 2-1 win today.
