Football – England – EFL Cup Betting Tips

Burton Albion lost out in a high-scoring east midlands local derby on the weekend when they lost their first ever Championship match away at Nottingham Forest at the City Ground 4-3 but they will have taken a lot of positives out of that game.

Burton Albion secured promotion at the end of last season from League One and they find themselves in the English second tier following a meteoric rise from the lower league and the Conference just a few years ago.

Former manager Nigel Clough has returned to the Pirelli Stadium following Jimmy Floyd-Hasselbaink’s departure to QPR, and much will depend on the goalscoring prowess of their front three strikers O’Grady, Akins and Beavon this season if they’re to make an impression upon the League Cup this season.

Visitors Bury started their League One campaign off in positive fashion as they beat Charlton Athletic 2-0 at Gigg Lane, but now face a tricky trip down to the east midlands when they take on Burton Albion at the Pirelli Stadium.

Bury aren’t known for their exploits away from home and this is further compounded by the fact that they’ve gained just one away win from their last 12 matches in all competitions (a 1-0 win away at Swindon Town in League One back in April).

The Shakers have also won just once in their last five away from home in the League Cup which was a 2-1 win at Wigan Athletic, but they had suffered defeats at Sheffield United, Sheffield Wednesday, Norwich City and Bolton Wanderers prior to that win.
