BURTON v BURY – Pick: 1 AH0 – 31 January 2015

Burton to maintain promotion charge

League One/Two Tips

Football – England – League Two

Saturday 31st January 2015 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

Third placed Burton Albion could move top of League Two if they take all three points today and other results go their way when they entertain Bury at the Pirelli Stadium this afternoon.

Burton are on a good run of form right now having put together an eight-match unbeaten run which includes wins over Hartlepool United, Tranmere Rovers, Shrewsbury Town and Mansfield Town which has kept The Brewers firmly in the hunt for an automatic promotion spot.

Given their previous attempts of promotion via the play-offs lottery, I daresay manager Hasselbaink will be keen to get his boys over the line with a top three place. Burton are four points clear of fourth placed Luton town, and with The Hatters having a home match against Cambridge, Burton will be keen to keep Luton at arms length for as long as possible.

Visitors Bury are in seventh place and currently occupy the last remaining play-off spot thanks to recent wins against Mansfield Town, Carlisle United and Accrington Stanley although it should be noted that two of these wins came at Gigg Lane and all against bottom half opposition.

Meanwhile, away from home, Bury have a pretty average away record of  4-3-6  15/18 with wins at bottom half Northampton Town and Accrington, but they’ve failed to beat any of the top half teams so far in six attempts away from home, registering three draws and three defeats.

Therefore, I believe there’s a gap of opportunity to back the hosts here, but I recommend backing them with the draw no bet option as Bury might sneak a draw at best. Could be a 2-1 win for Burton here though.
