BURTON v HARTLEPOOL – Pick: 1 – 13 December 2014

Brewers line up Pools win

League One/Two Tips

Football – England – League Two

Saturday 13th December 2014 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

Burton Albion will be looking to take advantage of their visitors’ current plight when they take on Hartlepool United at the Pirelli Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

A win for the fourth placed Brewers today could see them go top of League Two if other results go their way, and with a home record of  6-1-2  11/7, they stand every chance of walking away with the maximum points this afternoon. Overall, Burton Albion have lost just once in their last five and have recently secured wins over league leaders Wycombe Wanderers (away) and second placed Luton Town (at home).

In fact, Burton have had a tough run of matches lately as their last five games have been against opposition all placed in the top eight of the division, but with attacking personnel such as Blyth (on loan from Leicester City), MacDonald and McGurk, The Brewers should create plenty of goalscoring opportunities against Hartlepool.

Onto the visitors then, and Hartlepool United currently sit bottom of League Two some six points adrift of 22nd placed Carlisle United having lost their last three league matches on the trot with defeats to Southend United, York City and Wycombe Wanderers (the latter two being home defeats).

In fact, Hartlepool have now gone seven matches without a win and have gained just one point from the last possible 21 on offer thanks to a 2-2 draw at home with Newport County. The Pools’ away record stands at a disappointing  2-0-7  7/17 with only Accrington Stanley (19 goals) and Carlisle United (20 goals) conceding more than them on the road.

Hartlepool have conceded in each of their last thirteen away matches which surely gives the hosts Burton a very good chance of winning this match.

Burton under Hasselbaink look a dangerous outfit going forward and with the aforementioned personnel in their armoury, I fully expect The Brewers to take the points here in what could perhaps be a 2-1 win.
