League One/Two Tips

Football – England – League Two

Saturday 14th February 2015 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

Burton Albion head into today’s clash against Oxford United on the back of eleven matches without defeat as Jimmy-Floyd Hasselbaink’s side look to push on in their quest for League One football next season.

Burton haven’t looked back since the departure of former manager Gary Rowett to Championship outfit Birmingham City which shows that if the right players are utilised in the right system, the manager becomes ‘overseer’ of operations rather than directing the traffic.

Burton’s home record stands at a very impressive  11-2-2  21/8 and they’ve won six of their last eight at the Pirelli Stadium which includes notable wins over Luton Town, Shrewsbury Town and Bury who are all currently situated in the top half of League Two.

In addition, The Brewers have kept ten clean sheets to date while possible anytime goalscorer options include forwards Akins and McGurk.

Visitors Oxford United have slipped back into their old ways after a run of just two defeats from nine matches, to just one win from their last five in League Two which was a 2-0 away win at Stevenage.

This has seen The U’s drop down into 17th place in the division, but their away results have been encouraging in recent weeks despite their loss at Accrington Stanley during midweek. Oxford’s overall away record stands at a reasonable  4-5-6  15/19 but their away record away at top half opposition reads 2 wins, 2 draws and 2 defeats.

With Burton pressing for automatic promotion and on a roll of good results, I’ll back them (giving the quarter ball in case it’s a draw) but still at good odds, with Burton Albion shading this one perhaps 1-0.
