BURY v OXFORD – Pick: 1 – 07 March 2015

Shakers to roll U's at Gigg Lane

League One/Two Tips

Football – England – League Two

Saturday 7th March 2015 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

Bury will be looking to maintain their winning streak this afternoon when they entertain lowly Oxford United when the two teams meet at Gigg Lane, with Bury amongst the play-off pack.

Recent wins over Cheltenham Town, Hartlepool United, Plymouth Argyle and most notably, fourth placed Luton Town on Tuesday night has kept The Shakers’ promotion hopes alive and indeed, the hosts are unbeaten in their last six matches overall.

At Gigg Lane, Bury hold a very good record of  11-3-3  27/15 and are unbeaten in their last seven on home turf with wins over Mansfield Town and Carlisle United as well as holding Wycombe Wanderers and Exeter City to points. Bury’s firepower includes strikers Nardiello and Rose along with goalscoring midfielder Mayor who are all capable of finding the back of the net.

Visitors Oxford United make the long trip north this Saturday on the back of just one league win from their last six overall, which was a 3-0 home win over Mansfield Town. Aside from that though, The U’s seem to be treading water down in the bottom half of League Two as they’ve suffered defeats away at Accrington Stanley and Burton Albion.

Oxford have managed draws with Portsmouth and Morecambe recently, but both opposition are currently lying in mid-table positions, and a trip to Bury will prove more difficult I’m sure. The U’s’ away record stands at  4-6-7  14/21 and despite losing just twice in their last nine on the road, Oxford have failed to score in four of their last five on their travels.

If Bury can keep Oxford’s Hylton quiet then the hosts should take the points here – could perhaps be a 2-1 win for The Shakers.
