CAMBRIDGE v TAMWORTH – Pick: 1 AH-1 – 28 January 2012
United to stand as Lambs fall
January 27th, 2012 / Armchair PunterBlue Square Premier
Saturday 28th January 2012 – Kickoff: 1500hrs
Cambridge United take on Tamworth on Saturday afternoon as they look to close the gap on the play-off positions by taking all three points today.
Cambridge have been a little up and down in recent weeks with wins over Braintree Town, Southport and Telford, but also losing to Braintree, Darlington and Grimsby Town, the latter being their first home loss in eleven matches. By the way, Grimsby Town are unbeaten in their last twelve so please bear that in mind.
United’s home record stands at a solid 8-4-2 23/9, with striker Michael Gash (6 goals, 7 assists) providing goals as well as the ammunition along with midfielder Harrison Dunk (6 goals, 1 assist), with the attacking midfield of Ashley Carew (5 goals, 7 assists), Tom Shaw (5 goals, 2 assists) and Luke Berry ( 5 goals, 1 assist) providing the back-up.
Tamworth travel to Cambridge with a poor away record of 3-3-8 13/26, and have suffered five straight losses in their last five on the road with defeats at Kidderminster, Darlington, Forest Green Rovers, Alfreton Town and Ebbsfleet United.
The Lambs are nine points ahead of Kettering so no need for alarm yet, but seeing as Kettering downed visitors Gateshead in midweek, they won’t want to leave anything to chance. Striker Iyesden Christie (9 goals, 1 assist) leads the way along with attacking midfielder Kieron St Aime (7 goals, 1 assist) and Danny Thomas (2 goals,3 assists).
Head-to-head, Cambridge are unbeaten in their last four home meetings against Tamworth, and I can see this trend continuing again today at the Abbey Stadium; Cambridge United to win 2-0.
