Cardiff City scored a valuable win over Middlesbrough during midweek with a 1-0 home victory at their Cardiff City Stadium and they’ll no doubt be looking for more of the same tonight when they entertain struggling Bristol City.
Another win for Cardiff tonight would see The Bluebirds leapfrog Reading into 7th place in the Championship, and with a four-match unbeaten run behind them, this may well be on the cards for the hosts. An earlier win over Charlton Athletic along with back-to-back draws with Brighton and Preston North End (both away from home) makes up their last four-match sequence.
On home turf, Cardiff City hold a decent record of 4-1-1 8/4 and they’ve registered some vital wins over Wolves, Huddersfield Town, Charlton and Middlesbrough, while their only defeat to date was to second placed Hull City. Striker Joe Mason (5 goals) looks the hosts’ likeliest anytime goalscorer.
Visitors Bristol City find themselves just one league position above the relegation zone in the Championship having managed just two wins so far this season. City suffered another defeat in their midweek loss away at Brighton in a 2-1 defeat and it’s been just one win from their last eight matches overall.
That rare win was a recent Friday night 2-0 victory over Nottingham Forest but this was registered at Ashton Gate, while their away performances need a vast improvement if they’re to pull away from the bottom reaches of the division.
The Robins’ away record stands at 1-2-3 7/11 and only Ipswich Town and Bolton Wanderers have conceded more goals than them on the road. Bristol City are without a win in their last four on their travels also.
I will go for Cardiff City here, but I advise backing them with the draw no bet option at still good odds.
