CARDIFF v MILLWALL – Pick: 1 AH-0.25 – 18 April 2015

Bluebirds to bounce back against toothless Lions

Championship Tips

Football – England – Championship

Saturday 18th April 2015 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

Despite mixed results overall in recent weeks, Cardiff City appear to have the edge over today’s opponents Millwall when the two teams clash at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Cardiff have registered recent wins over Brentford, Birmingham City and Leeds United but have also lost to Bolton Wanderers and Ipswich Town. Among these results, The Bluebirds have also drawn with south coast clubs Bournemouth and Reading, so their mid-table position is certainly understandable.

At home though, there’s a lot more work to be done for Russell Slade’s men as they’ve managed just one win from their last eight on home turf which must be frustrating both fans and management alike. Their home record stands at an inconsistent  9-4-8  28/28.

Millwall registered another much-needed three points on Tuesday night when they beat Wigan Athletic 2-0 at home but that result still wasn’t enough to lift The Lions out of the bottom three in the Championship.

Millwall are still five points adrift of Rotherham United and safety as they make their way to Wales this Saturday, and while they’ve chalked up a couple of wins recently (Charlton 2-1 and Wigan 2-0), both of these were achieved at their New Den ground while their away form has taken a dramatic nose-dive.

Since posting back-to-back away wins at Nottingham Forest and Birmingham City, Millwall have suffered four defeats and managed just one draw in their last five with defeats at Leeds United, Rotherham United, Middlesbrough and Bolton Wanderers while the point was gained against Brentford.

Their away record stands at  4-6-10  15/30 and they’re the joint-lowest goalscorers away from home with Rotherham United.

The fact that Millwall have struggled to score goals on their travels gives Cardiff a very real chance of breaking their poor form at home, but to be safe I’ll give the quarter ball on the hosts who might edge this one perhaps 1-0 but it won’t be a classic!
