CARDIFF v READING – Pick: 1 – 21 November 2014

Bluebirds to show strength against weak Royals

Championship Tips

Football – England – Championship

Friday 21st November 2014 – Kickoff: 1945hrs

In the other Friday night fixture in the Championship, another former Premier League club Cardiff City will be looking to bag all three points when Reading visit their Cardiff City Stadium which could lift The Bluebirds into the top half of the division.

Prior to the international break, Cardiff had returned some mixed results with wins over Ipswich Town and Leeds United along with defeats against Millwall and Bolton Wanderers while securing a point away at a rejuvenated Birmingham City.

But as it’s Cardiff’s home form that we’re really concerned with here for tonight’s match, The Bluebirds have won their last four on the trot on home turf with wins over Sheffield Wednesday and Nottingham Forest as well as the aforementioned Ipswich and Leeds victories.

Cardiff’s overall home record stands at  6-0-2  16/10 and along with Ipswich Town, have registered the most number of home wins in the Championship thus far. New boss Russell Slade also has a plethora of attacking options open to him in the shape of forwards Kenwyne Jones, Nicky Maynard, Adam le Fondre and Federico Macheda.

Reading are yet another former Premier League side who had harboured ambitions of an instant return to the top flight but things haven’t turned out that way for The Royals as they look destined for at least another season in the second tier.

Reading currently sit just below mid-table and while their form at the Madejski Stadium has been okay, it’s only a bare pass-mark for the Berkshire outfit, and their away form has let them down this term. An overall record of   1-2-5  5/16 on their travels has simply not been good enough with just the win at Middlesbrough to show for their troubles.

The Royals go into this evening’s clash on the back of five away matches without a win and just one point from the last 15 on offer on the road with defeats at Sheffield Wednesday, Brentford, Bournemouth and Blackburn Rovers.

Cardiff seem to have the knack of registering wins at home while Reading have been poor on their travels – this looks like a straight win here for The Bluebirds, perhaps 2-1.
