CARLISLE v MANSFIELD – Pick: 1 AH0 – 31 January 2015

Cumbrians to avoid defeat to Stags

League One/Two Tips

Football – England – League Two

Saturday 31st January 2015 – Kickoff: 1500hrs

Second from bottom Carlisle United face fellow strugglers Mansfield Town at Brunton Park this afternoon in a vital relegation battle in League Two with just one point separating the two sides going into this clash.

Carlisle’s form has been poor in recent weeks as they’ve managed just one win from their last five matches which was a 3-1 win away at AFC Wimbledon, but at home they’ve recently beaten the likes of Accrington Stanley and Northampton Town amidst the losses, and their overall home record stands at  5-2-6  19/22.

But in Carlisle’s favour is the fact that goals can come from almost anywhere as midfielders Potts and Rigg have been amongst the goals as too forwards Amoo and Asamoah.

Visitors Mansfield Town have gone five matches without a win and interestingly, their last win was an away win at AFC Wimbledon as well just before Christmas. Since then, draws with Hartlepool United and Wycombe Wanderers have been joined by defeats against Bury, Burton Albion and Exeter City, while their away record stands at a below-par  2-3-8  7/20.

A lack of goals on the road has been their primary problem and this has contributed to six defeats in their last ten away from home, while failing to score on seven occasions so far this season. in addition, The Stags have kept just two clean sheets on their travels this term, and this could open the door for Carlisle here this afternoon.

With both teams in pretty ordinary form, I’ll back Carlisle with home advantage at least not to lose (take the draw no bet option) at good odds – The Cumbrians might actually sneak a narrow 1-0 win here.
