CELTA VIGO v GENK

Thursday 13th April 2017 – Kickoff: 2005hrs

Football – Europe – Europa League Betting Tips

Celta Vigo have a great chance of taking the first honours in their Europa League quarter-final first leg against Belgian side Genk on Thursday night when they hold home advantage at their Estadio de Balaídos.

Despite recent back-to-back defeats in La Liga following losses to Valencia and Eibar, Celta Vigo have emerged from the group stages of the Europa League (where they finished runners-up to Ajax in Group G), and also progressed through the knock-out phase with wins over Shakhtar Donetsk and Krasnodar.

Celta Vigo have lost at home just once from their five matches played on home turf so far in the Europa League this season (a 1-0 loss to Shakhtar Donetsk), and with prolific striker Aspas (16 goals) up front, they should stand a decent chance of doing well on Thursday night.

Visitors Genk find themselves in quite a strange situation as they’re now involved in the Europa League play-offs for next season domestically in the Belgian Jupiler League, but also involved for real this season as they make their way to Spain for this quarter-final first leg.

Genk finished top of Group F in the Europa League group stages two points ahead of Athletic Bilbao, courtesy of winning four of their six matches, but the two defeats came away from home in 3-2 and 5-3 defeats at Rapid Vienna and Athletic Bilbao respectively.

Question marks also exist over their results away from home in the Jupiler League too as they finished the season with a below-par record of  4-3-8  16/22, which placed them in 8th spot in the Belgian top flight at the end of the regular season.
