Perhaps it was no surprise that Chapecoense stumbled to a third consecutive away defeat at Atletico PR last weekend as their away form has taken quite a dramatic dive in recent weeks. But they will head into today’s encounter with Fluminense in reasonably confident mood having registered recent back-to-back wins over Vasco da Gama and Gremio both by 1-0 results.
Chapecoense currently sit in 9th spot in Serie A and whilst their away form has quite frankly been well below par, their form on home turf has continued on it’s solid way as they possess an overall record of 5-1-1 8/3 so far this season.
Just one defeat on home soil thus far, and when you also add in the fact that they’ve kept four clean sheets as well in their seven matches, they look well placed for further success hare this morning.
Visitors Fluminense received a shock at the weekend when they suffered a surprise 2-1 loss at the hands of struggling Vasco da Gama which handed them their first loss in six matches. Fluminense had previously strung together wins over Ponte Preta, Goias, Santos. Cruzeiro and Atletico PR, but they’ve been a little indifferent on their travels so far this term.
An away record of 3-1-2 9/10 suggests they’re more vulnerable away from their home surroundings, although they’re unbeaten in their last three on their travels. That said, they will face a tough task of getting something against a solid Chapecoense outfit on home soil.
To sum up. I believe the hosts Chapecoense have enough about them to earn at least a point here, but I recommend backing them with the safer round ball option in case this ends up a stalemate. Could be a 2-1 win for Chape.
