Addicks still hard to beat at The Valley

Championship Tips

Football – England – Championship

Saturday 29th November 2014 – Kickoff: 1215hrs

In the Championship’s early kick-off this Saturday, hosts Charlton Athletic take on high-flying Ipswich Town at The Valley with both teams looking to post a valuable three points before the main action begins later in the afternoon.

Charlton currently sit in 9th place although a win today could see them jump into one of the play-off positions depending on other results. The Addicks are unbeaten in their last four although three of these four have ended in draws against Sheffield Wednesday, Leeds United and Millwall along with a 1-0 win over Reading at the Madejski Stadium which is no mean feat.

At The Valley, Charlton still remain unbeaten with an overall record of  4-5-0  11/7 but again they’ve drawn five of their last six which has prevented them from making an impact upon the top six so far.

Ipswich Town have put together a five match unbeaten run overall recently which includes wins against Blackpool, Wolves and Watford along with draws against Huddersfield Town and Bournemouth. The Tractor Boys have actually lost just once in their last fourteen league matches, and that was a 1-3 loss away at Cardiff City, so Mick McCarthy’s men are in good shape going into today’s clash in London.

Away from home, Ipswich have lost just once in their last eight while nicking wins at Wigan Athletic and Blackpool, but they’ve also been involved in five draws within these last eight matches while their overall record on the road stands at  2-5-2  13/13.

Both teams have been involved in quite a few draws of late so I certainly want the draw on my side for my pick in this one where I’ll back the hosts Charlton Athletic with the quarter ball also on my side. Charlton might edge this perhaps 1-0.
